5 Stars 20 minutes to Affective Parenting: Communication Skills
I think the video was right on.. Gave me a lot of tips and things to do and say when certain situations arrise with my children. I would recommend this and any other materials that you have to anyone.
5 Stars great tips that are easy to remember
I think everyone should have to have some child rearing education. I always here how parents do it differently with child #2 and child #3 - they learned on the job.
I wanted a little cheat sheet so that I could start early with child #1.
This video was so easy to watch and so easy to understand.
It’s not as much disciplining as it is giving information to your children and creating expectations through that information.
When we sat to watch the video, my husband said, “makes perfect sense.”
We have used the tips successfully ever since.
5 Stars Practical, Effective and Builds Relationship
Awesome easy to implement strategies, with immediate results towards positive behavour. These techniques improve relationships with children, are strength based and practical. A strong point of the DVD is the modeling of both scenarios - how not to use a method and how it looks when implemented in a positive way. Short (twenty minutes) and straightforward.
5 Stars wonderful guide
This DVD touches on great communication skills to use in your family–making it easy for everyone in the family to learn how to improve communication and behaviors. I would recommend this to any family who is looking to create a stronger relationship within the family, or for any family who is just looking for suggestions of ways to be more effective in communication.
5 Stars Great for “new” or “used” parents
This DVD is very useful for first-time parents or parents with more than one child. Sometimes we start off great with our parenting but the hassles of every day grind can erode the way we interact with our kids. As a father of 2 boys (ages 7 and 4) I found this DVD useful for helping me to be the parent I want to be while still having my kids become the kids I want them to be. This DVD gives GREAT information on building skills so that I can still parent my kids my way only more EFFECTIVELY.
Raising Confident Girls 100 Tips for Parents and Teachers

Raising Confident Girls 100 Tips for Parents and Teachers

In June, Perseus enthusiastically releases two titles by British parenting educator Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer. In Raising Confident Girls, Hartley-Brewer argues that, although women do have a freedom that was unheard of 50 years ago, girls now face a sometimes unbearable combination of pressures. Her positive focus (”Model respect for women,” “Examine your expectations” and “Respect her feelings”) emphasizes the ways that parents and teachers specifically can boost girls’ self-esteem.

3 Stars Not a bad checklist…
Parents who wish for confident girls will find the “usual” list here, all centering around developing respect and confidence in girls. There are some glaring omissions, however. (Nothing on boundary setting, questions that girls may have about development.) Some of the recommendations may be wrong in certain settings (e.g., “Don’t impose your views” makes no sense if the child is not safe). This is child-centered, laissez-faire parenting, suitable for middle-class, well-educated, physically safe families.
Some of the 100 tips parallel exactly the 100 items for boys in the author’s book for boys (e.g., Support the school).
This book is better than Will Glennon’s “200 Ways to Raise a Girl’s self-esteem.”
4 Stars Raising Confident Girls
Straight forward, easy to follow tips on how to help girls grow to their full potential. There are not a lot of wasted words. This book’s format is simple and to the point. It is written for ordinary people who just want some common sense advise on how to help girls be happy, healthy, and strong.

5 Stars Love it!
I love this organizer and give one to everyone I know that is having a baby. We used the book for my son’s first year and it’s great to look back at all the people he visited, the little things he learned, and how much he changed. I like the layout with options to write about different milestones each week. I highly recommend this organizer.
3 Stars not for me
Is really nice when you have a book for discribe the baby firt year the only problem is you dont have time for this. Is practice and easy for use, is you have time for that the book is perfect.
4 Stars Perfect with one exception.
I used the 40+ organizer for both of my boys. I loved them. It really helped with the first one. Especially as a new mother, with dozens of questions. It was great. I wasn’t able to get the Birth to One Year for my first, because they were just in print and it was too late.( I’m waiting for the “Sprout” organizer for him). I love the birth to one year..however..I miss the blank, fill-in calendar that was in the beginning of the 40+ organizer. That is the only thing. I hope that when this is reprinted that it is included, because it helped. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.
5 Stars a great idea
A friend recommended I get a binder to hold all of the first year well baby visit records, etc… This book not only has a section for each well baby visit but has so much more in a small notebook size. The tables for writing down times of feeding, naps and diapers were so helpful in tracking my son’s growth and development. Especially in those early weeks when you’re not quite sure if your baby is getting enough to eat or sleep. I’m not a very compulsive person but I was addicted to this book. It also has a section in each week where you can recount your babies likes and dislikes, developmental firsts and precious moments, so it becomes not only a log but truly a journal of memories too! This book has a great section in the back with tables for recommended sleep, eating, first aid, developmental milestones, play ideas and even a babysitter interview questionaire all of which have been extremely helpful. Lastly it has a nice plastic sleeve in the back to insert immunization cards, etc. I plan on getting this as a gift for all my friends and family who are expecting.
5 Stars A must have!
This baby organizer is a must have for all new moms! It is a perfect way to track your babies daily activities and first year milestones. It is ideal for working moms that need to go back to work and want their childs caregiver to leave the details of what their child did that day. I will use this product for every child of mine! I highly recommend it!

My Potty Activity Book 45 Toilet Training Tips Potty Training Workbook with Parent Child Interaction with Coloring and Creative Fun

1 Star Unimpressive at best
The combination images–black & white photos with outlined clothes–were very amateur and uninspiring. I just let my 2-year-old scribble all over them while we talked about potty training.
3 Stars Worth getting.
My little boy has a mild case of autism so I really wasn’t sure if it would help. It did - he even likes the stickers that came with it. Its still taking a little more than stickers. Each time he gets a row filled, I take him to the 99 cent store to pick out a toy. He tells me he wants a sticker after he goes potty..
5 Stars re: Unique Approach to Potty Training!
My Potty Activity Book is a great way to make potty training fun. There are pictures to color in the front and you can discuss what is happening as you color just like you would point out pictures in a book you might read to your child. The book reduces pressure. I like having the option of coloring this with my child with light conversation during training vs always asking, “Do you want to go potty?”. I also like that the pages are perforated so I can give one at a time to my child and have the option of posting them on the refrigerator or bathroom wall. In the back are many unique tips that are short and straight to the point so I could easily skim them and find some that really helped my son. The tips are great for busy moms who don’t have time to read lengthy discussions. I would recommend this book as a supplement to anyone who wants to make potty training more fun or needs a few more easy tip ideas.
5 Stars Not just a book, Not just for fun, It’s all in one!
My Potty Activity Book, stickers and tips are a great addition to your potty training routine.
The book arrived much larger than we would have expected and contains many pages of activity fun using drawings and real black and white photos of children.
It’s not just a book to read through, it’s an every day extended activity book. Parent and child can read the book each day over and over, but also interact with creative coloring and stickers day after day, page after page.
With your help, your child can proudly check off each milestone they reach on the progress chart and in the end, you have a keepsake activity book with a congratulatory certificate in the back for potty training completion.
Even if your child isn’t fully trained by the end, you’ve still spent a lot of fun, creative and quality time together working on potty skills without all the pressure and frustration! <...
5 Stars No more diapers….yeah!
Tracy Foote’s “My Potty Activity Book” was just what my son needed to make that final transition out of diapers! Each page features pictures of children and different aspects of potty training (ie) various types of potty seats, washing hands, rewards for using potty, etc. Unlike other potty training story books, every page contains an activity that your child may participate in, such as coloring, connect the dots, and matching games. This book also contains over 45 potty training tips that address situations such as motivating your child, night time training, and using public restrooms. As an added bonus, each page is perforated and may be removed from the book and hung in a place where your child will be reminded of the activity featured on that page. This book was definitely an asset to successfully potty training our son!
